Who runs Death Before Portage?

And what are your aims?

DBP is owned and administered by me.

Aims... well, none really.. it's a hobby.

Here're the reasons, in no particular order, that DBP exists:

1. I enjoy paddling immensely.

2. I enjoy web design.

3. The initial motivation was to use DBP as a way to share my little, rather crappy videos that I tend to take on the rivers, with those that feature in said videos. I started off doing this on a static html page but it didn't give the chance for others to make any sort of comment so a forum was the obvious move.

4. For others to share their paddling experiences so we can all benefit, whether it be from knowing that there's a whopping tree in a drop or that the old lady in the last cottage is happy for paddlers to launch from her garden!

Beyond that, who knows! It'd be great to see this forum grow and be recognised as there is a heck of a lot of knowledge out there that we'd all like to share, and I suppose creating the logo is one step towards that happening.

From a commercial point of view I have the Google advertisements to offset my hosting and software costs, though as I recall they have generated less than $5 to date! :o As I'm sure you will appreciate setting up and maintaining a web site takes a load of time.
