Just a quick report on my weekend.
I it was Bolton Canoe Clubs Christmas Party Weekend and we always go to Low Bank Ground Outdoor Centre nr Coniston. After the pre boating party on Friday night around 20 of us drove over to the Esk, there was just enough water in to cover the rocks at the start so it was an ideal level for the size and skill level of the group, every novice had an experienced buddy and we all got down in one piece with a few swims along the way to keep things interesting for the rest of us.
We got off the water just as it went dark. Snow on Birker Fell on the way there, lots of v deep puddles on the drive back added to the adventure. Even bigger post paddle party on Sat eve.
Sunday a few of us drove up the Greta expecting it to be at a good level after Saturday nights rain, the water was on the mark when we got there, had a quick chat to a fisher folk who was a bit fed up that it was, but had to agree. So we jumped on quick before it dropped for an uneventful but enjoyable trip down.
