Yesterday we started the search for martin's boat, having paddled and walked he greta on wednesday when he lost the boat we assumed it had gone further downstream.
We therefore parked at keswick climbing wall and got on there. paddled round the corner and through the bridge, through to the derwent - while paddling the section looking or a boat we noticed the abundance of rubbish in the river, not good when your looking for a blue bit of plastic yourself.
The Greta had gone down to it's normal level by now but as we entered the derwent we noticed it was higher than al the other times we have paddled it, with banks submerged and the small weir completely washed out. paddling then onto Bassenthaite and walking out up to miher house (?) tea room where we had parked.
The boat wasn't found but a pleasant trip anyway, probably a good open boat trip for beginners or anyone who wants a leisurely paddle - loads more trees and hundreds of strainers on he two rivers though and we counted atleast six dead animals in or near the water.
Have fun - see you on the river
