Hi all,

Just a quick heads-up. As some of you will be aware, some time ago there were incidents of kayakers vehicles being damaged at the Haverthwaite (clock tower) get out on the Leven. There hasn't been any problems there for a long time as far as I'm aware, until now....

On Sunday whilst I was getting my car from the top of the river, I left my kayak and equipment at the get out in the custody of my paddling chums. On returning to the get out to collect my stuff I was informed by my chums that a bearded man had watched on while his spaniel had sent marked my buoyancy aid. Apparently is wasn't even like he had even tried to stop it... he just waited and watched, then once the dog was done he walked on! Must have been a fisherman?!!

Just about to post up a bargain buoyancy aid in the for sale section... lightly stained!

funny - he's always pretty pleasant to chat to if it sthe guy ive seen down there before and passes the time of day with good humour.
Sounds like the same guy as well. I wouldnt take it as an anti kayaking thing if that is the case.
the guy who was reputed to damage guys was similarly not necessarily anti kayaking just a bit of an oddball locally - didnt like offcomers im unreliably informed

When the boys described him to me I recognised him. He is always friendly and chatty when I've seen him. Obviously his dog though my gear needed a new smell.

Buoyancy aid is now fresh, clean and piss free! :D

I didn't view it as anti kayaking behaviour, just a bit odd!

Reminds me of an incident a little over a year ago when some friends from the midlands were visiting. We'd had a good run down from Newby Bridge but when we got to their car at the Clock Tower some t**t had removed the valve inserts from both his nearside tyres - left the inserts by the tyres though, but still a complete pain. No idea if it was anti-paddler - he had roof bars but no uprights, etc., and other cars were hadn't been fiddles with...

On another occasion, which I guess I ought to keep quiet about, a guy pulled in at the same get-out, got his dog out of the car and watched as it cocked its leg against my boat. I should have planted my Canyoneer in its nuts, but instead, once they'd wandered off out of sight, I washed the hatchback of his car. Not with water. His dog spent a good while sniffing the back of his car when they returned 5 minutes later. Oh how we laughed (way too easily pleased!)
