Tree hazards:
1. Tree across river 200 yds below Pelter Rapid, just above river flowing in on LHS. This tree can be sneaked past/through.
2. Tree across river just round bend from suggested portage: get out where another tree on LH bank that has fallen over to a 45 degree angle away from river and it's roots have pulled up the bank. Once out of boat on bank tree round corner obvious.
3. Tree across river short while before cattle grid on road (at end of stone footbridge into Ambleside through park). Suggested portage: get out on RH bank just as a fence ends. Fence is made of two or three strands of plain wire. Tree visable from a short way above.
