Now now 242! You are correct with the Brathay. The building you see on the picture is Brathay Church. Coincidently under the bridge here there's a few rocks that stick up... when they are just about covered the Looping pool is at a very good level.... a good indicator if you're on your way from Ambleside. :D

Anyone else got something? Perhaps 242 has one take at least 5 miles from the nearest road? ;)

This has appeared before on, err, other forums, but if you don't remember it from there (and aren't going to cheat by trying to find it) where is this?

No Idea, although it looks like the paddler has just walked out of the shop, put his brand spanking new gear on and jumped into his shiny unblemished Salto. :D

Nice piccy Poke.

was that on dave McGraw's site? - pure opinion

Yeah, that pic was one of mine that Dave put on his site for a while whilst it was down (but he was still intending to put it back online). The site's downfall began when he dislocated his shoulder (a week after recieving the boat in the picture at the AJ '06 weekend). He got back in a boat a few months later, though doesn't paddle as much hard stuff nowadays, not to mention he has a girlfriend to whom I imagine he devotes the time he would have originally spent keeping his site up to date!

I used to be in the same uni club as Claire (his girlfriend) so have been out paddling with them both quite a bit. He's still pretty into his photography and does take some cracking pics (two more wezzits for you)!:

It is one of those two, yup!

I imagine that loads of you lot will have done the river that pic of the Salto is taken on.

Not sure many will have done the one with the photo of 3 kayaks though.. It's a Scottish low-water option.

Correct
Correct
Maybe correct
Nerd.

If you're ever up at the Pattack and fancy a crack at the falls, then make sure there's more water than this going over the fall than in this pic. I was Ok, but there's a nasty submerged ledge that might cause ankle/back problems if you clipped it! I only noticed it on a later trip when I went for a paddle under the fall in much lower levels.

yeah these wezzits do suggest that I may have spent more time than is healthy cyber boating.
I shall learn to embrace nerdiness (and keep quiet next time) but for this time I guess the Meig

No, that's not it, though I suspect you're deliberately trying to get things wrong now to redeem yourself on the nerd front :-)
