How's about we meet / grab a brew at Newby Bridge garage, say 9 - 9:30am and going from there? I'm really not bothered as to what to paddle, just want to get out. Wouldn't object to a look at Troutbeck / Torver Beck / Rawthey as haven't been on any of these yet or a foray into the Dales / Swale... If we can save Ian a drive south and then back north to a river, I'd be happy to give him / anyone else a shout on the day.

Steve ed & Rockrat; Leven sounds good to me - think that Steve may well be right about the forecast. If you guys want to firm up on that as an option (on here?), then I'll deffo head over to Newby Bridge on Saturday morning - does 9:30 at the garage work or do you want to suggest a different time / meeting point?

I'll give you both a shout on Saturday evening to confirm - or change plans if the forecast turns out to be the usual fairy tale!

Ned - are you up for this? I'm sure you could cruise the Leven with your eyes closed, but what the heck! We'll be popping into Naaz after James Bond on Friday evening; don't know if you guys could get a sitter, but would be good to grab a beer if you could?
