View Full Version : paddling challenges??
I guess youve seen this 'three lake challenge' thing?
Kind of a "three peaks for paddlers" so what other equivalents have been or can be thought up?
What are the "Paddlers bob graham" "paddlers fred whitton*, or the "uk's triple crown"???

Years ago I thought about every Lake in the Lakes in under 24hrs. If anyone does it you can name it after me :D.
NO SMART COMMENTS SIMPSON!

Being a smart arse: isn't that just a pootle accross Bassenthwaite? All the others are mere's, waters, or tarns... :D
The only UK ‘triple crown’ I’ve heard of (it’s more of a SW triple crown) is The Upper Dart, The Erme and the Plym all in one day. Don’t know what the lakes equivalent would be…
Maybe a Coniston crown (Yewdale, Church and Torver in 24hrs?)…
Or the L.A.K.E.S. in a weekend:
- Langstrath (or Leven)
- Aira
- Keskadale (Any better suggestions for K?)
- Esk
- Sprint (or Swale?)

Chance would be a fine thing!
I hate to be predictable and suggest something not so glamorous but what about the Kent?

D'oh. I knew there must be an obvious one that I was missing out!
One i fancy is;
start at three shires stone, hike over the fell drop into greenburn - LLB (colwith) - brathay (skelwith) - windermere - leven - sea
the lakes triple crown - upper duddon, upper esk and langstrath in a day?

I was looking at something similar to the Three Lakes challenge, but on rivers. Was going with Nevis, Fairy Glen and then maybe Esk?

Instead of the Esk, isn't the Swale the English run that everyone raves about (Except maybe the Dart, but that would mean waay too much time in a car!)

Poke, thought it was only simpson who was the smart arse.:D
Duddon to go in with fairy glen and nevis for me. Swale is fun but I think its too easy to go in that list.
If we are into practicalities the Esk would seriously slow things down and water levels might be an issue!!

How about a race down to the sea, for example. One team starts at ODG down Great Langdale, Brathey, Windermere, Leven, Sea. The other team comes through Sprint, Kent, Sea, needs work as one is longer than the other.
Ha the swale isn't in the lakes!
Who said anything about the river needing to be in the Lakes?
The three peaks is the highest mountain in Scotland/England/Wales...
