I did stock ghyll on saturday morning with a good level and now have a hole in my boat.
Im fairly certain it was on the bottom weir, it looks like a spike.
I ran it river left, so my advise is run it river right

If its spikey might i suggest not running it atall? My mate lives near that weir however and says its not likely a spike, might have been somewhere else or something else?

The bottom weir, just before the bridge in town does have many short spikes in it, along the walls that form it, both left right and middle! the only way is to have a look at low / normal water try to remember!
If it's the small 1ft sort of weir right before Ambelside, never had a problem here, always ran middle left.
Awesome river. Has anyone ever had a look above Stock Ghyll Force???

I think I paddled it virtually once (on google maps). I seem to remember it looked relatively flat, but happy to be proved wrong.
That's a suprise, thought there might have been some steep stuff up there.
Was there again Tuesday, a friend has quite a chunky scratch towards the back of his boat, whether it was the weir or not, not sure!
