The River Kent
The river Kent flows through the Cumbrian Market Town of Kendal. It is known to be one of the fastest rising and falling rivers in the UK, but on Sunday it was at a nice medium level. On Rain Chasers river web camera the water was just covering the rock in the center of the flow. We put in just below the nasty concrete weir in the center of Kendal as there's always plenty of parking and its a good warm up before the river narrows and you enter the gorge. Scorggs weir is the more popular starting point as you are almost straight into the exciting part, although parking here is usually at a premium.

Scroggs weir is also a good indicator of level, if you can float over the weir without leaving to much of your boat behind then the gorge sections will be full and fun! After Scroggs weir the first short rapid leads you into the first gorge section and under a bridge. Gunpowder Gorge is the main grade 4 rapid.
